What data we collect
- Account information — your name and email address when you sign in with Apple or Google.
- Pet profiles — your dog's name, breed, age, weight history, and optionally a profile photo.
- Meal logs — ingredients you enter, commercial foods you scan by barcode, and the nutritional analysis we compute from them.
- Crash reports — device type, app version, and error context via Sentry, to help us fix bugs. This does not include your pet data.
- Anonymous usage data — which features are used and how, via Amplitude, to improve the app. This is not linked to your identity.
- Subscription status — managed via RevenueCat to verify your active plan.
What data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your location.
- We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA).
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
Camera and photos
PetFuel uses your camera to scan product barcodes so it can look up nutritional information for commercial pet foods. It also uses your photo library so you can set a profile picture for your dog. Photos are used only to display them in the app.
Nutritional data and accuracy
For home-cooked and ingredient-based meals, nutritional values are computed from the USDA FoodData Central database. For commercially-produced pet foods scanned by barcode, we display only what the manufacturer publishes: calories, macros, and whether the product is labeled "complete and balanced."
PetFuel provides nutritional information only — it is not a substitute for veterinary advice. Consult your veterinarian for any health or medical concerns.
How your data is stored
Your data is stored securely on our servers so you can access it across devices. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. If you delete your account, your data is deleted from our servers within 30 days.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share information only with the third-party services that make the app work — your sign-in provider (Apple or Google), Sentry, Amplitude, and RevenueCat — each of which has its own privacy policy. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for how subscription receipt data is handled.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, or by contacting us at the address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Children
PetFuel is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the new version will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use of PetFuel after changes constitutes acceptance.
